Dear
Visitor,
This
book is born out of love. Out of love for dogs, cats and
any other pet. I have loved pets and animals since the beginning
of my own time. And, I was lucky enough to have married a man who
also loves pets.
We
have had an assortment of dogs in our life, and rabbits, and birds.
From two little dogs when we first married to three big ones when
my husband became disability retired. And now we are down to two
big ones.
One
of those wonderful dogs, a black lab, is 3 1/2 year old Shorty,
our adopted dog. My heart hurts when I know so many dogs are abandoned,
lose their owners, get lost themselves, or simply are not wanted
anymore. Many people think of pets as pure possessions, to take
into the home and tire of them, so they give them away again. The
shelters and pounds are full of beautiful pets.
I
want to stop the "giving back" by preparing and teaching
you about adopting a dog!
What Is Pet - Dog Adoption About?
We
sure could use a little good news. We are living in very troubled
times. Our pets only want our love, in turn they provide us with
comfort and solace.
With
their soulful eyes, and the warmth of their unconditional love,
in the difficult days and weeks that lie ahead, the bond between
people and their pets will become stronger than ever before. If
you have ever looked into the eyes of a shivering, frightened animal
and through a simple act of kindness been rewarded by a gentle nuzzle,
the sounds of a whimper or a contented purr, then you know exactly
what I'm talking about.
As you read about each one of our accomplishments, you can take
pride in the knowledge that none of them would have been possible
without your help. There are many challenges that lie ahead of us
in the months to come, and never forget for a moment, when it comes
to fighting cruelty, we don't give up. Ever. From our family to
yours please accept our best wishes for a wonderful year,
Michael
O'Sullivan
